Documentary on Canada’s contribution to the Vitamin A program of UNICEF, designed to counter Vitamin A Deficiency (VAD) in children which causes blindness and serious immune system suppression. Showcased programs to bring Vitamin A supplements to children around the world, highlighting efforts in Bangladesh, Ghana and Guatemala.Vitamin A is essential for the functioning of the immune system. UNICEF’s campaign to give vitamin A supplements to children who need them increases their resistance to disease and improves their chances for survival and development. Vitamin A deficiency is a global problem, affecting more than 100 million children.  VAD is responsible for as many as one out of every four child deaths in communities, regions and countries where the problem exists.
